Well then

So, my first post! What should I talk about? Perhaps music! I think so. I just discovered this band, Defeater, and they're fucking amazing. Apparently they were striving to make some music that was actually socially conscious, and had a meaning behind it, so they wrote their album Lost Ground. Its about WWII, and is a first person account of it. It starts with the character enlisting, and his progression through basic and getting sent overseas and seeing everyone dying around him, and praying that he would make it back home alive. He eventually does, and doesn't receive the warm reception he'd been hoping for all along. He ends up becoming a homeless gutter-kid, and begging for money in the streets. I thought it was really meaningful, because my grandfather was A Marine in WWII, and died eleven years ago of lung cancer. You'd figure that would make me a non-smoker, right? Wrong.
